President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden, the first lady, are scheduled to journey to Hawaii on Monday, according to an announcement from the White House. This visit comes as search, rescue, and recovery operations persist in the aftermath of the destructive wildfires that occurred there.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre conveyed in a statement, “On Monday, August 21, the President and First Lady will head to Maui to engage with first responders, survivors, and federal, state, as well as local officials, following the tragic wildfires on the island.”
