Sam Asghari speaks out about his separation from Britney Spears, stating that “requesting privacy appears absurd.”
Sam Asghari, the spouse of Britney Spears since June 2022, has issued a statement on social media subsequent to filing for divorce from the pop vocalist on Wednesday.
“After sharing 6 years of affection and dedication, my wife and I have chosen to conclude our journey together,” Asghari conveyed on his verified Instagram Story on Thursday. “We will hold onto the affection and respect we have for each other, and I extend my best wishes to her always. Life’s unexpected twists occur.”
He appended, “Requesting privacy might appear absurd, so I will simply request that everyone, including the media, approach this with kindness and consideration.”
The actor and personal trainer submitted a petition to dissolve the marriage with the Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday, citing “irreconcilable differences,” as indicated by a copy of the filing obtained by CNN. The documented date of separation for the couple is July 28.
CNN has made contact with representatives of both Spears and Asghari for potential remarks.
The pair tied the knot in June of the prior year after becoming engaged in September 2021. They initially crossed paths in 2016 when Asghari co-starred alongside Spears in the music video for her single
